Job description

Location: South Marston Industrial Estate

Salary: £35,000 - £42,500 per annum

Working Days / Hours: 4 on / 4 off (includes weekends on a rota basis) from 6:00pm to 6:00am (nights)

Contract: Permanent

Our mission at Oxwash is to eliminate the impact of textile care on our planet and its people. As a part of our fast-growing Maintenance team in Swindon, you will be based at our flagship site, Big Blue I - the world's first industrial-sized facility, operating with Net-Zero emissions (Scopes 1 & 2).

Summer 2024 brings exciting new equipment to the centre of our mission, including a 5-metre Tunnel Washer, a HyDro Water Reclamation System, and enhanced dryers, irons and folders. The Maintenance team will play an integral role in ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency of the equipment in a site that operates 24/7.

About The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will perform both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks on the laundry equipment at Big Blue and the facility itself, as well as occasional maintenance activities at our other lagoons. You will be required to work in a highly automated environment and use your technical skills to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of the equipment.

Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Servicing & PPMs - regular servicing and planned preventative maintenance of the equipment throughout the facility including commercial and industrial washing machines, tumble driers, rotary irons, finishing and dosing machines.
  • Fault Finding - proactively find and prevent faults occurring to equipment reducing breakages and downtime. Report any defects to the maintenance & site managers that could impact operations.
  • In-House Engineering - provide a core competency of engineering skills and be responsible for maintaining machinery/equipment/the facility to a high standard whilst striving to minimise issues.
  • Collaboration with external specialists - liaising with third parties to solve any issues with the hardware and plan for future installations.
  • Stock management - establishing the critical spares required, monitoring stock levels of spare parts and ordering items which have reached the ‘on-hand' limit.
  • Health and Safety - ensuring health and safety procedures are followed throughout the facility and improving processes over time.
Key Relationships

  • Maintenance Manager - reporting to the Maintenance Manager who will support you in your daily duties and in your development.
  • Site Managers - working closely with the site managers to prioritise tasks in line with business needs.
  • Shift Managers / Supervisors - collaborating with the Shift Managers and Supervisors to maintain equipment and provide specialist skills as needed.
Requirements

Technical competency

  • Fully qualified engineer - ideally, time served, with experience in electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • Specialist knowledge - familiar with commercial laundry equipment and possess good electrical and mechanical competency.
  • Driving Licence - a clean full driving licence is required to drive between facilities.
  • Problem Solving - ability to identify problems and proactively solve them while also having the willingness to learn new skills.
  • PPM - strong knowledge of effective PPM and how they are carried out to build a scalable PPM schedule.
Technology, automation and IT literacy

  • Technical and IT literacy - confidence in using technology to optimise processes and efficiency.
  • PLC - strong knowledge of PLC's and their functionality, with a working knowledge of the software behind them.
Leadership and collaboration

  • Collaboration - effective influencing and collaboration skills to cultivate professional working relationships at all levels.
  • Organisation and detail - attention to detail and strong organisational skills as well as compliance with Health & Safety.
  • Inter-departmental - willingness to carry out tasks outside of your general job role to support operations.
  • Attitude - positive, self-motivated, collaborative, and willing to learn new skills.
