24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we serve 4.8 million households and businesses across the heart of the UK. Each cuppa drunk and every toilet flushed is only possible because of the 6,500 brilliant team members working across our patch.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and communities.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Water Treatment team has a great opportunity for you to join as our new Maintenance Mechanical Installation Technician covering the Worcester & Gloucester patch.

The role involves reacting to failures and planned improvement works across Worcestershire on a wide range of installations at Water Treatment works. You will carry out replacement of assets including but not limited to pipework, valves, flow meters, pumps, screening equipment, scraper bridge equipment, bearings, stub shafts, gearboxes, and drive units.

You will also support local maintenance teams in carrying out planned and breakdown maintenance on various mechanical assets. Sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills are essential. Basic fabrication skills and good general workshop knowledge are also required.

You will be provided with a vehicle for business use, a laptop, and safety clothing. The position offers the chance to work on a variety of equipment, develop new skills, and embrace curiosity.

Additional technical training will be provided, and working hours are Monday-Thursday 7.30 am-3.30 pm and Friday 7.30 am-3 pm.

The successful candidate will participate in a 24/7 standby rota.

You’ll help with preventive maintenance techniques, bringing experience with industrial equipment such as mechanical drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and pumps. Fault diagnostics and timely resolution are key responsibilities.

You should know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical standards. Experience with various IT systems used on the job is also beneficial.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re looking for someone with a NVQ level 3 mechanical qualification and a relevant apprenticeship. A full UK driving license is required.

Beyond skills and experience, we value character, positivity, and a caring attitude. We celebrate diversity and want individuals who are eager to get involved, make a difference, and be part of something bigger.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working at Severn Trent is more than just a job; it’s a career. We offer a range of benefits, award-winning training, and opportunities to contribute to environmental and community efforts.

Some perks include:

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (option to buy/sell up to 5 days)
  • Annual bonus scheme (up to £1,500, subject to eligibility)
  • Leading pension scheme with double contributions (up to 15%)
  • Sharesave at a discounted rate
  • Training and development through our Academy
  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
