Job Description

We are seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to join a leading engineering and manufacturing company in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth operation of critical production equipment. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in minimising production downtime, carrying out planned maintenance, and troubleshooting breakdowns. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in electrical and mechanical maintenance, including fabrication and welding.

Key Responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician:
  1. Diagnose and repair breakdowns to minimise downtime.
  2. Read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot and modify equipment.
  3. Perform preventative and planned maintenance using a Maintenance Management System.
  4. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
  5. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including safe working at heights and confined spaces.
  6. Carry out electrical and mechanical tasks, including fabrication, welding, and minor electrical installations.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
  1. Time-served apprenticeship with a Level 3 qualification (BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  2. Proven experience in multiskilled maintenance, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  3. Ability to read and troubleshoot control panel schematics and technical drawings.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  5. Comfortable working in a shift-based role in a high-demand environment.
Desirable:
  1. Experience with vacuum technology (advantageous but not essential).
  2. Strong computer literacy and familiarity with office software.
