Total Care Matters Ltd. is a residential care provider with 10 homes across the East Midlands. We are seeking a practical Maintenance Technician / Handyman to join our team and travel between homes to perform maintenance tasks.

The role involves planned and reactive maintenance across care homes, painting and decorating, joinery, basic plumbing, gardening and general upkeep. You will travel between sites with a company van and tools provided, and a full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in general property maintenance or handyman roles.
  • Proven painting and decorating skills.
  • Competent in basic joinery and carpentry.
  • Able to undertake basic plumbing repairs.
  • Comfortable with gardening and external maintenance.
  • Practical, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Well organised and able to plan across multiple locations.
  • Good communicator with a professional, approachable manner.
  • Willing to travel between care homes and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance and repairs across our 10 residential care homes.
  • Undertake painting and decorating, including preparation, filling, painting and touch-up work.
  • Carry out basic joinery and carpentry repairs, including doors, handles, locks, skirting boards and shelving.
  • Undertake basic plumbing repairs, such as replacing taps, washers and address minor leaks.
  • Carry out general handyman and property maintenance tasks.
  • Undertake gardening and external maintenance, including grass cutting and hedge trimming.
  • Identify maintenance issues and report any repairs requiring specialist contractors.
  • Carry out regular planned visits to our homes and complete tasks within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and to a good standard.
  • Keep maintenance records and report completed works and any outstanding issues.
  • Look after company tools, equipment and vehicle responsibly.
  • Work respectfully within a residential care environment.

Maintenance Technician/Handyman Total Care Matters Ltd. Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom

Location: East Midlands – travel between 10 residential care homes.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Contract: Full-time.
Salary: £[34,000 to £35,000] per annum.
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence required.

About the Role:

We are a residential care provider operating 10 homes across the East Midlands, and we are looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Maintenance Technician / Handyman to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across our care homes, ensuring that our properties are maintained to a safe, high-quality and presentable standard.

This is a varied, hands-on role and would suit someone with experience in painting and decorating, joinery, basic plumbing, gardening and general property maintenance.

You will be required to travel between our homes as planned, carrying out routine maintenance and responding to repair requirements as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned maintenance and repairs across our 10 residential care homes.

  • Undertake basic plumbing repairs, such as replacing taps, washers, toilet components and addressing minor leaks.
  • Carry out general handyman and property maintenance tasks.
  • Undertake gardening and general external maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge trimming and keeping outdoor areas tidy.
  • Identify maintenance issues and report any repairs requiring specialist contractors.
  • Carry out regular planned visits to our homes and complete maintenance tasks within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and to a good standard.
  • Keep maintenance records and report completed works and any outstanding issues.
  • Look after company tools, equipment and vehicle responsibly.
  • Work respectfully within a residential care environment, being mindful of the needs, privacy and wellbeing of our residents.
About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in general property maintenance or a similar handyman/maintenance role.
  • Confident with painting and decorating.
  • Competent in basic joinery/carpentry.
  • Able to undertake basic plumbing repairs.
  • Comfortable carrying out gardening and external maintenance.
  • Practical, reliable and able to work independently.
  • Well organised and able to plan and prioritise jobs across multiple locations.
  • A good communicator with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Able to work respectfully around residents and care staff.
  • Flexible and willing to travel between our care homes.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and workmanship.

A full UK driving licence is essential as the role involves travelling between our homes. A company van and the necessary tools and equipment will be provided.
