A leading engineering solutions company in the UK is looking for an experienced electrician to provide engineering support to the Electrical Services Group. Job description

The job holder (JH) is responsible for providing engineering support and capability to the Electrical Services Group.

To enable successful delivery of operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Culham site power supply infrastructure and low voltage control systems, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.

To lead small to medium plant related work packages associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment, minor installation/modification tasks, and technical studies including preparation of documentation.

To perform fault-finding activities on electrical plant and ensure that proposed solutions are technically robust.

The job holder shall be expected to possess the competency needed to supervise work on electrical systems.

Accountabilities:
  1. Lead specific work undertaken by the Electrical Services Group and all associated documentation, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice, and that work is delivered safely and effectively.
  2. Take full ownership of relevant work packages, ensuring all technical criteria are satisfied and work is carried out safely and cost-effectively.
  3. Responsible for the design, specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of assigned electrical systems.
  4. Prepare engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and local rules supporting the Electrical Services Group's requirements.
  5. Interpret supplier requirements and submit related documentation for review and approval, considering costs within Group budgetary constraints.
  6. Provide assurance through calculation, analysis, and review of existing electrical switchgear and cabling.
  7. Act as Owner and be responsible for items of plant/equipment at the individual item or sub-system level.
  8. Plan maintenance activities and integrate them into the CMMS, optimizing workflow management and resource allocation.
  9. Guide and support team members on CMMS utilization and maintenance planning processes.
  10. Integrate planned maintenance with reactive or corrective maintenance to ensure effective resolution of issues.
  11. Advise on electrical design of equipment to ensure compliance with legislation and codes, consulting with Subject Matter Experts as needed.
  12. Support customers in producing compliant designs and resolving issues promptly to meet program objectives.
  13. Ensure accurate, complete, and properly stored PM records in accordance with UKAEA policy.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance planning processes for efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
  15. Maintain comprehensive documentation of maintenance activities and generate reports to track progress and compliance.
  16. Provide ongoing guidance and support on CMMS utilization and maintenance planning to foster skill development.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Qualified electrician with an electrical craft apprenticeship or HNC in electrical discipline.
  • BSth Edition pass.
  • City & Guilds 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection).
  • Significant experience as an electrician in industrial/commercial environments.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Ability to work safely according to written safe systems of work.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
