The job holder (JH) is responsible for providing engineering support and capability to the Electrical Services Group.
To enable successful delivery of operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Culham site power supply infrastructure and low voltage control systems, ensuring compliance with current legislation and codes of practice.
To lead small to medium plant related work packages associated with complex HV/LV electrical equipment, minor installation/modification tasks, technical studies including preparation of documentation.
To perform fault-finding activities on the electrical plant and ensure that proposed solutions are technically robust.
The job holder shall be expected to have the competency to supervise work on electrical systems.
Accountabilities:
- Lead specific work undertaken by the Electrical Services Group and all associated documentation, ensuring compliance with legislation and codes of practice, and safe and effective delivery.
- Take full ownership of relevant work packages, ensuring all technical criteria are satisfied and work is safe and cost-effective.
- Design, specify, procure, install, commission, and maintain assigned electrical systems.
- Prepare engineering procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and local rules to support the Electrical Services Group.
- Interpret supplier requirements, review, and approve related documentation, considering budget constraints.
- Provide assurance through calculation, analysis, and review of electrical switchgear and cabling.
- Act as Owner and be responsible for items of plant/equipment at the component or sub-system level.
- Plan maintenance, coordinate with operations, and integrate plans into the CMMS to optimize workflow and resources.
- Guide team members on CMMS use and maintenance planning, fostering skill development.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure effective issue resolution.
- Advise on electrical design to ensure compliance, consulting with SME (SAP(E)) as needed.
- Support customers in producing compliant designs and resolving issues to meet program objectives.
- Maintain accurate PM records in accordance with UKAEA policy.
- Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance planning processes for efficiency and compliance.
- Document maintenance activities and generate reports to monitor progress and compliance.
- Provide guidance on CMMS utilization and maintenance processes to team members.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Qualified electrician with an electrical craft apprenticeship or HNC in electrical discipline.
- BS7671 18th Edition qualification.
- City & Guilds 2395 or equivalent (Testing & Inspection).
- Significant industrial/commercial electrical work experience.
- Supervisory and leadership experience.
- Ability to work safely according to safe systems of work.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload effectively.
