This Electrical role is basedat Fieldhead Hospital in Wakefield but covers other health centres in theWakefield and surrounding areas that sits under the trust footprint.
The role is maintaining allElectrical based jobs internally and externally on the buildings.
The work is varied and changeson a day to day basis in line with service need requirements and prioritisationof works.
Estates trust vehicles areutilised for traveling around the footprint of the trust and the successfulcandidates skillset may at times need to be used on the Barnsley propertieswhich includes Kendray hospital which has inpatient mental health units andCheswold Hospital which is a medium to low secure unit based in Doncaster.
This is an exciting role forthe right candidate that likes a challenge in a very demanding environment.
The successful candidate willbecome part of a small team of Electricians who work in with and support othertrades and maintenance assistants in day to day duties.
Reactive works and statutoryPPM are the main duties of this post.

Maintain all aspects of Electrical equipment to a highstandard while being aware and respectful of your surroundings.
Carry out repairs and PPM on a daily basis to keep thebuildings safe and compliant to HTMs and all relevant British standards

Solve electrical problems on complex systems.
Carry out work to the 18th edition Wiring Regs.

JOB SUMMARY
Thisjob description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The postholder will be required to undertakeother duties commensurate with the grade as directed.
The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with thepostholder when necessary and in line with the service developments.
The postholder will be the Specialist lead in his area of expertise andwill be responsible for the Installation, maintenance, servicing and repairs ofall equipment and properties belonging to the Trust or for other organisationsas directed.
They will ensure compliance of all safety standards and procedures forboth in house and contracting staff by ensuring training and technical supportis provided. They will be responsiblefor ensuring the Trust is maintained as required by statutory and GovernmentGuidelines i.e. HTMs, HBNs etc.
KEY RESULT AREAS:

2. Service.Test, diagnose, repair and calibrate advanced mechanical and electricalinstallations, plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise andpass on knowledge to others.
3. Problemsolve technical issues which arise during the course of your duties.
4. Undertakeduties of lower grade staff as appropriate.
5. Supervisefacilities support workers and facilities technical support workers asrequired. Checking and evaluating theirwork.
6. Assembleinstall and commission new work.
7. Useall relevant tools and equipment.
8. Liaisewith specialist contractors or suppliers regarding the provision of technicaladvice or the ordering of spare parts.
9. Instructothers on all aspects of your work.
10. Learnnew techniques/technologies with training as necessary.
11. Tocarry out new electrical works as and when required to IEE Regulations 17thEdition.
12. Tocarry out electrical installation testing in accordance with the IEERegulations 17th Edition.
13. Tomethodically log all results and ensure work repair requirements are raisedrelating to any tolerances out of the manufacturers specification.
14. Toensure all repairs are carried out as a priority.
15. Toliaise with contractors whilst carrying out work.
16. Providecostings for new work, obtain authority from budget holder.
17. Implementnew work and keep within agreed budget and time allocation.
18. Toissue work to contractors.
19. Tosupervise contractors and ensure work is carried out in accordance with Health& Safety at Work Regulations, Trust Policies and Risk Assessments.
20. Thepostholder will be required to carry out work in accordance with working atheights and permit to work systems on various functions in various conditionsi.e. confined spaces, sewerage, drains, boiler houses, patients equipment,heights and unlocking sluice master.(Protective clothing must be worn at all times).
21. Towork from ladders, to erect and work from scaffold (once trained) and safe useof safety harness.
22 Thepostholder will be required to carry out work on plumbing and drainage systemsas required.
23. Toensure all paper work is completed and recorded as required by the OperationalEstates Officer.
24. Tohave an understanding of patients needs, work closely with nursing staff andshow empathy when working alongside patients.
25. Tocarry out new work/maintenance of I.T. and Telecommunications systems.
26. Thedepartment operates a crossover of duties and as such the job holder would beexpected to carry out other trades work, which is within his skill level. He/she would be expected to graduallyincrease his knowledge and capabilities in other trades to progressively andsuccessfully take on complex work of a multi trade nature.
To be trained tobe a key holder for the secure units throughout the trust.
To work closelywith Ward Managers and work alongside patients and have an understanding oftheir needs whilst carrying out duties.
Establish goodworking relationships with all points of contact with estate users, ensuringthey are kept informed about the progress of work as required.
Driving hospitalvehicles and plant as required (not H.G.V.).
The postholder will be expected to participate in The out of hours oncall rota which involves multi skilling across all trades, bringing you intocontact with sewage and other bodily fluids (for which protective equipmentmust be worn).
The Post holder will be expected to work at any properties throughout theTrust as instructed by the Operational Estates Officer.
The postholder will on occasions be required to work overtime/changeworking hours if the need of service dictates.
All Trust employees are expected to maintain existing skills anddevelop/receive training in new skills as required to carry out work of theTrust.
To ensure the appropriate use of safety and protective clothing andequipment, as required by good working practice and the Health and Safety atWork Act.
To read understand and apply safety guidance notes, hazard letters, fireinstructions and other such documents as issued to the post holder byOperational Estates Officer.
