The Bank of England is seeking an Engineering Shift Technician in Infrastructure Engineering at Debden to maintain critical building systems for its 24/7 operations. The role covers planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across HVAC, electrical, life safety and related systems, with emphasis on safety, reliability and professional service.
You'll work with Planon IWMS, support OEMs, and provide data for handovers and recovery exercises, while acting as an Authorised Person for LV
Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 in engineering or equivalent.
- IOSH Operating Safely qualification.
- Experience with IWMS planned and reactive maintenance tools.
- Experience operating HVAC, BMS, electrical, public health and life safety systems.
- Authorised Person experience for HV/LV systems within Safe Systems of Work.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance for engineering systems.
- Ability to follow SOPs and read complex drawings.
- Strong maintenance risk management understanding.
- Clear reporting and tailored communications.

Responsibilities
- Deliver planned, preventative and reactive maintenance through Planon IWMS and update via handheld HMI devices.
- Carry out daily and periodic checks, routine maintenance and statutory testing across building systems.
- Respond to faults and failures following priority response and fix times to minimise disruption.
- Support OEM contractors with planned maintenance, reactive tasks and emergency call-outs.
- Provide data for daily shift handover logs, reports, and incident management.
- Act as or support an Authorised Person for LV electrical and/or mechanical systems within Safe Systems of Work.
- Champion health and safety, aligning with SOPs, risk assessments and service levels.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through ideas and practical improvements.
- Participate in weekly on-call technical support rota for incident response.

As an Engineering Shift Technician in Infrastructure Engineering, you'll help maintain the critical building systems that support the Bank's 24/7 operations. - Support specialist OEM contractors with planned maintenance, reactive tasks and emergency call-outs.

The salary for this role is £32,220. In addition, we also offer 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.

- Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
