Merrimack Manufacturing is seeking a resourceful and experienced Maintenance Technician with excellent attention to detail to maintain the condition, functionality, and safety of production equipment. Candidates must be self-sufficient in performing preventive and reactive maintenance activities on various equipment and machinery. The role requires effective communication with multiple teams across the company to ensure progress on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and record scheduled maintenance activities on production equipment in accordance with documented procedures and maintain records in a controlled database.
- Support other maintenance staff.
- Perform basic service, troubleshooting, and installation of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Complete, handle, and enter maintenance documentation daily, requiring efficiency, patience, and systematic work habits.
- Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production and facility equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices, comply with safety regulations, and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Participate in 5S and continuous improvement activities as part of a cross-functional team.
- Respond daily to requests from various groups, including Engineering, Quality, Environmental, and Production teams, prioritizing and scheduling tasks effectively.
- Manage maintenance materials, supplies, and spare parts.
- Communicate with vendors and outside contractors as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with installation or maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Word; knowledge of Excel and production software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documentation; knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings is desirable.
- Experience troubleshooting and installing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.
- Experience in controlled environments (clean rooms) is a plus but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot, solve problems, and identify process improvements.
- Willingness to undertake various tasks and adapt to unexpected situations in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work diplomatically.
- Positive attitude and teamwork orientation.
