Job description

To maintain a range of buildings services, plant and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine, by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur.

Maintain NHSL’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, associated building services plant, and building fabric assets to a high standard.

This will include planning and prioritising daily workload and material management requirements, including documentation, completion, and sign-off.

What you'll need to bring
  • Completion of an apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias plus an HNC or equivalent, with additional non-core training qualifications at SVQ level or equivalent.

In addition:

  • Experience working in an estates service environment.
  • Knowledge of current statutory legislative requirements.
  • Experience inspecting and planning work related to PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Willingness to undertake in-house training relevant to the position, such as statutory training, Archibus, Learnpro, and Toolbox Talks.
  • Additional knowledge through training in Portable Appliance Testing, periodic testing, washer disinfectors, sterilizers, asbestos awareness, legionella prevention, tube system maintenance, PLC controllers, steam/boilers, etc., to achieve competency or accreditation.
  • Accredited Boiler/Steam course resulting in accreditation and compliance with HSE and insurance requirements.
  • Medical Gas training and Medical Gas Pipeline Systems training to ensure competence.
  • Healthcare Ventilation course for competent person status.
  • Specialist manufacturer courses for equipment used in industrial settings, e.g., specialist laundry equipment.
  • Development of additional skills in areas like complex air conditioning systems through ongoing training.

Please note: a full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required for all relevant vacancies.

Location and Working Pattern

This role is based in the PSSD Maintenance department within West of Scotland Laundry.

The working pattern: Day Shift/Back Shift (Various shift patterns).
