A leading facilities management company in Trafford is looking for a Utilities Engineer/Maintenance Technician. This role involves providing reactive support and planned maintenance for various utilities, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards. The ideal candidate will have NVQ level 3 in Engineering and strong communication skills. The salary ranges from £38k to £40k, depending on experience, with Monday to Friday working hours and on-call requirements.

Job description

Utilities Engineer/Maintenance Technician

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Utilities Engineer will work at our FMGC site based in Manchester. As the Utilities Engineer you will be responsible to provide reactive support as well as planned maintenance activities and assistance as directed by your Management.


Responsibilities

  • Communicate with the Team Leader escalating any problems or issues related to production and engineering.
  • Assist other skilled trades in carrying out maintenance, repairs, testing, inspection and installation work.
  • Ensure Utility service levels are maintained to support the production requirements of the site.
  • Become first response for Site Utilities:
    • Steam and condensate systems
    • HP/LP Compressed Air
    • Water Treatment and distribution
    • Effluent treatment and disposal
    • Chemical dosing and delivery systems
    • Cooling Tower and Legionella Control Systems
    • Building Management Systems
    • Air Handling and fixed Cooling equipment
  • Ensure Health & Safety and Statutory compliance of all assets within the Musk remit.
  • Carry out continual site monitoring to manage site environmental compliance.
  • Respond to crisis management through extended cover, call-ins and remote monitoring.
  • To actively and analytically fault find.
  • Operate in line with all March SHEQ standards and procedures.
  • To assist in setting of machines in conjunction with the operations team.
  • To adopt and share a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Work alongside and provide support to the customer with a "one team" mind.


To be successful in the role you will be expected to have:

  • Minimum NVQ level 3 / a recognised apprenticeship in Engineering

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with personnel at all levels
  • Excellent time management with the added need for flexibility as and when required to meet business needs.

Hours of work, Monday to Friday 6am till 3pm. On call rota may be needed 1 in 6

Salary £38k to £40k depending on experience.
