Job summary

Scotsman Hospitality in St Andrews is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. You will diagnose and complete reactive and planned maintenance across rooms and common areas, prioritising safety and guest comfort while keeping accurate records in our system.

You will lead minor works, coordinate with contractors when needed, and support quick room turnover and guest issue resolution. A strong multi-trade background and safe working practices are essential, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Proven multi-trade maintenance experience across building fabric, fixtures, basic plumbing/electrical tasks.
• Good judgement on competence limits and safety.
• Resident-focused service attitude and reliable documentation.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and complete reactive and planned maintenance with safety and guest needs in mind.
• Record tickets, appointments, parts, photos and completion in Concurrent; update residents if repair cannot be completed at first visit.
• Arrange specialist contractors where required and check their work and handling of occupied spaces.
• Lead complex fault finding, identify root causes and scope works or contractor briefs.
• Inspect rooms, amenities and plant; recognise failure patterns and recommend repairs to prevent disruptions.
• Support departure inspections, summer turnaround, room preparation and final quality checks.
• Prepare and turn short-term let rooms quickly, resolving defects before guest arrival and supporting urgent guest issues.
• Guide the Maintenance Assistant on methods, quality and safe task boundaries; assess work quality.
• Follow access permissions, risk assessments, permits and safe systems; leave areas clean and secure.
• Keep tools, parts, keys and records organized; manage risks around fire, water, electrical issues.
• Explain what was done in plain language and look for practical improvements while in the room.

• Explain what has been done in plain language and look for a practical extra improvement while already in the room.

What you bring

• Proven multi trade maintenance experience, with strong fault finding and competent repair skills in building fabric, fixtures and basic plumbing or electrical tasks within qualification limits.
• Good judgement on competence limits and specialist certification.
• A resident focused manner, safe working habits and reliable documentation.
