The Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of East House machinery, equipment, and building systems. This role involves conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and performing repairs to minimize downtime. The incumbent will work closely with the Facilities team to maintain a safe and efficient working environment, as well as assist with the installation and upgrading of equipment as necessary. The Facilities & Maintenance Technician will be required to respond to emergency repairs, maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Housing Safety
· Conducts routine inspections to ensure that housing is safe and healthy for the people we serve. Inspections may include:
o Random, weekly, monthly, and/or bimonthly inspections.
o Fire safety inspections.
o Move in/out inspections.
o Routine inspections of HVAC and other mechanical equipment.
o Documentation as needed.
Regular Maintenance
· Responsible for addressing and managing day-to-day maintenance concerns in a timely and efficient manner to ensure the ongoing functionality and safety of the facility.
o Follows established schedules for regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facility systems (such as HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical systems).
o Responds promptly to maintenance requests submitted by staff or management, prioritizing based on urgency.
o Troubleshoots and resolves issues, identifying root causes, and implements the necessary repairs or corrective actions.
o Performs general maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, repairing door handles, addressing leaks, and conducting basic electrical and plumbing repairs.
o Provides status updates to management and escalates issues when necessary.
o Responsible for monitoring inventory levels of necessary parts and tools, ensuring that commonly used supplies are always on hand for daily maintenance tasks.
o Performs snow removal ensuring safe access to EH properties during regular business hours as well as on weekends or after snowfall events, as needed.
Asset & Fleet Management
· Responsible for assisting with the coordination of routine maintenance and minor repairs on company vehicles, ensuring they are in safe and operational condition for daily use.
o Maintains and helps manage facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
o Helps coordinate maintenance programs for owned and leases assets.
Apartment Turnovers
· Coordinates activities related to apartment turnover to ensure apartments have been cleaned, stocked and prepared for new clients.
· Coordinates with vendors (cleaning, moving, etc.) as needed.
· Coordinates activities with program staff to ensure apartments are “move in” ready following client turnover.
Apartment Inventory & Maintenance
· Develops and maintains an inventory of apartment furniture and/or necessities.
· Collaborates with East House programs to understand needs and develop processes that lead to property related efficiencies.
· Manages maintenance work order submission and follow-up
On-Call Rotation
· Participates in on-call rotation for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours. Key responsibilities include:
o Be available outside of regular working hours (nights, weekends, holidays).
o Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests or system failures.
o Troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues, either remotely or on-site.
o Document actions taken during on-call shifts and follow up on any ongoing issues.
o Provide status updates to management and escalate issues when necessary.
o Maintain availability and readiness to return to the site as needed.
Other Duties
· Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards.
· Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions.

Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· 1-2 years experience Maintenance or Property Management experience.
· Equivalent experience in lieu of education.

· Ability to maintain professional practices, including confidentiality of financial, client and personnel information.
· Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and internet use.
· Ability to conduct basic internet searches, create and respond to emails (with or without attachments), use simple email features; create and/or edit basic business letters, electronic files, and/or spreadsheets and documents.
