Overview

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all machinery is operational and safe through both planned and reactive maintenance. This includes inspections, servicing, and repair work, as well as support for basic site maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC). The technician will also liaise with external contractors when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, pumps, mixers, and filling lines.
  • Build, modify, and install machinery to meet production needs.
  • Repair tanks, vessels, and other plant infrastructure.
  • Perform routine building and site checks (e.g., fire safety, emergency lighting, compressors).
  • Use CMMS software to log and track maintenance tasks.
  • Support compliance efforts including COSHH checks and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and document work completed.
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or higher in English, Maths, and a science subject.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Physical capability to handle demanding tasks (lifting, climbing, tight spaces).
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including use of maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Full and valid UK driving licence.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
  • NVQ, BTEC, or City & Guilds in a maintenance-related field.
  • Forklift Truck (Counterbalance/Reach) licence.
  • Certifications such as CMRP, or specialist qualifications (e.g. HVAC, electrical).
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
  • Strong customer service and a team-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and risk management.
