Job summary

PE Global is seeking an experienced Emissions Measurement Technician for a 12-month contract in Peterborough, UK. This role involves maintaining compressed gas systems for measuring gaseous engine emissions, managing supplier orders, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.

The ideal candidate has a Level 3 Technical Apprenticeship or equivalent experience in engineering, along with knowledge of analytical equipment. A hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience with stock and inventory management of regulated materials.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory processes.

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Emissions Measurement Technician to join our multinational engineering and manufacturing client based in Peterborough, UK. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the rate for this role is £14.80p/hr (PAYE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and control compressed gas systems used for measuring gaseous engine emissions across the facility.
  • Liaise with suppliers, order gases, manage stock levels, and maintain all related records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with certification and safety requirements through auditing and process management.
  • Install, service, calibrate, and maintain emissions measurement equipment and analytical systems.
  • Support engineers with technical investigations into current and future emissions measurement technologies and processes.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance (TPM) and provide first‑line breakdown support for measurement equipment.
  • Modify facility plant, test rigs, and equipment as required.
  • Evaluate products and processes within the emissions measurement discipline.
  • Assist in maintaining operational continuity and reducing downtime through effective stock and supplier management.
Requirements
  • Level 3 Technical Apprenticeship with an electro‑mechanical bias or equivalent technical qualification and industry experience.
  • Experience in stock or inventory management, particularly involving regulated materials.
  • Experience coordinating suppliers and managing ordering processes.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, certification auditing, and regulatory processes.
  • Experience maintaining analytical systems and equipment.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis techniques and implementing permanent corrective actions.
  • Experience working within laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and continuously learn and share knowledge.
  • Experience with pressurised analytical gas manifolds or systems.
  • Knowledge of Horiba MEXA gaseous analysers.
  • Experience with Sierra or Cambustion particulate analysers and partial flow systems.
  • Knowledge of AVL Smoke, MicroSoot, or Opacimeter instruments.
  • Experience working in an engine test cell environment.
  • Previous experience in an engineering technician role.
  • Health & Safety, compliance, or laboratory‑related certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance.
  • Hands‑on, proactive, and self‑motivated approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced technical environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, and written instructions.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
