Job summary

Recruit4staff is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer based at their Shropshire head office. The role involves performing planned maintenance, diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults, and minimising downtime on manufacturing equipment.

You will work across hydraulic and pneumatic systems and contribute to continuous improvement projects. The position offers a permanent contract, a company pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and opportunities for career

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing/production or FMCG environment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Solid understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
• Respond to machinery breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
• Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with machinery installations, upgrades and project work.

• £35.000 P/A
• Monday to Thursday 7.45AM to 4.30PM & Friday 7.45AM to 12.30PM (Days position)

The Role – Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults
• Responding to machinery breakdowns in a timely manner to minimise downtime
• Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
• Assisting with machinery installations, upgrades, and project work
• Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations
• Updating maintenance records using CMMS systems
• Supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Liaising with production teams to maximise equipment performance

What our client is looking for in the successful Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, HND, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a manufacturing, production, FMCG, food, packaging, automotive, or industrial environment
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and inverters
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
