Job summary

Univar Solutions in South Kirkby is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on tanks, pipework, pumps, and valves, ensuring safe operation and compliance with safety protocols.

The role requires time-served mechanical experience, ability to read manuals and schematics, and proficiency with tools and diagnostic equipment. You will work both independently and as part of a team within a global chemical distribution leader.

Qualifications

• Time served Mechanical Technician/Fitter.
• Aptitude and knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves and motors
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Relevant certifications or licenses may include but not essential – NVQ, BTEC, ONC, HNC, HVAC, IPAF, NVQ, Compex, COMAH.

Responsibilities

• Conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance on tanks, pipework, pumps, valves, and other mechanical equipment, generated with a computerised maintenance management system.
• Responding to breakdowns, conducting fault finding and repairing the issue and giving feed back
• Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment
• Installing and commissioning new equipment, including power and control wiring for motors, transformers, and control systems.
