Job description

As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across the Midlands, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. As a Maintenance Technician, your specific responsibilities will include:

  1. Confidently interact with external contractors: coordinating repairs seamlessly.
  2. Work collaboratively with the team: being a great colleague who understands the importance of quality service.
  3. Sustain high energy levels: juggling tasks while maintaining efficiency.
  4. Assist the management team: maintaining equipment and facilities to keep stores operating smoothly.
  5. Minimize customer disruption: coordinating repairs with minimal impact on customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all Tesco sites are safe and functional environments for customers and colleagues.
  • Following planned work schedules to achieve first-time fixes, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Working closely with team members, sharing best practices and knowledge.
  • Performing general day-to-day store and property maintenance.
  • Using mobile devices such as phones and tablets to drive work completion and updates.
  • Representing the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving customers, communities, and the planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude, and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
  • Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
  • Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.

As a vital part of our maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. Previous experience in maintenance, engineering, or construction environments is preferred. You should be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.
