Overview
We are a well-established PLC supplying fresh produce to major retailers. The group has grown steadily to become a leading supplier within our chosen sector across 5 sites in and around Hertfordshire.
Role
Acting as a point of contact for the Growing Manager on site, we are looking for a reliable Maintenance Technician to lead on the following areas:

1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on:
- Agricultural machinery (e.g. harvesters, tractors, irrigation systems)
- Packing line equipment (e.g. washers, sorters, conveyors, baggers)
- Refrigeration and cold storage units
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues and resolve them efficiently.

2. Site & Facility Maintenance
- Conduct general site maintenance including plumbing, lighting, and structural repairs.
- Includes the glasshouses and surrounding grounds.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of maintenance workshops and equipment storage areas.
- Utilities management (water supply, generators, etc.).

3. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all equipment is compliant with food safety and health & safety regulations.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and service records.
- Conduct routine checks and inspections to meet audit requirements (e.g., BRC, Red Tractor).

4. Support to Operations
- Coordinate with growing teams to minimise downtime and plan maintenance windows.
- Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery and systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and upgrades.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a maintenance role in an agricultural, food manufacturing, or packing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills (desirable).
- Certification or vocational training in mechanical/electrical maintenance preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards in fresh produce environments.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.

Working Conditions
- Combination of outdoor and indoor work.
- Exposure to various weather conditions, wet/cold environments.
- Shift work and weekend availability is required, especially during peak harvest and packing seasons.
