Job summary

Job description

POSITION SCOPE

Provide effective maintenance services for all plant/equipment within the refining and packing areas, focusing on improving plant availability and reliability.

Shift: 4 days on (days), 4 days off, 4 nights on, 8 days off

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet or exceed all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental targets.
  • Carry out plant isolations.
  • Maintain mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems in Process, Packing, Utilities, and Jetty sections.
  • Perform reactive maintenance as needed based on plant priorities.
  • Follow maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Plan and coordinate daily/weekly workloads with the Area Maintenance Leader, including preventative, predictive, and improvement activities.
  • Arrange plant insurance inspections and liaise with inspectors.
  • Complete plant improvement projects as time permits.
  • Supervise maintenance activities, optimizing resources and contractors for efficient, high-quality repairs and improvements.
  • Liaise with contractors, manage RAMS and PTW procedures.
  • Supervise cleaning resources to maintain plant hygiene.
  • Manage SAP maintenance system for budgeting, trend analysis, reliability, and inventory accuracy.
  • Provide high-tension (HT) electrical cover when necessary, following proper training and assessment.
  • Conduct detailed root cause analyses on component failures and implement modifications to improve reliability and performance.
  • Estimate costs for improvement projects and prepare capital requests.
  • Participate in all stages of capital projects, including installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Meet with suppliers and conduct audits or site visits as required.
  • Mentor and train staff on engineering practices and maintenance issues.
  • Monitor plant reliability through uptime, OEE, and opportunity loss metrics.
  • Achieve performance targets related to job-specific KPIs.
  • Maintain self-motivation and pursue continuous personal development.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to develop long-term solutions.
  • Possess multi-skilled capabilities across various engineering trades.
  • Understand health, safety, and environmental procedures and systems.
  • Plan and organize engineering tasks, often involving contractors.

ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in maintenance within an automated continuous process environment, including PLC and/or high-tension systems.
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance techniques and regimes.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferably an HNC/NVQ 4 in an engineering discipline, or at least a BTEC/ONC in a relevant field.
