Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operation of car park facilities. You will perform daily checks, identify faults, carry out basic repairs, and maintain safe, clean environments for customers and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily checks across car park areas, including entry/exit barriers, payment machines, lighting, signage, and safety systems
  • identify, report, and where possible resolve faults or maintenance issues promptly
  • carry out basic repairs and preventative maintenance tasks
  • communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, contractors and customers, ensuring issues are reported and resolved
  • prioritize tasks, respond promptly to maintenance issues and manage workloads effectively
  • maintain a professional and helpful approach, contributing to a positive experience for car park users and visitors
  • ensure the car park is clean, tidy, and free from hazards ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
  • monitor equipment performance and elevate more complex issues to the relevant teams or contractors
  • respond to enquiries, requests and complaints from a wide range of customers, colleagues in a respectful and professional manner
  • work collaboratively and inclusively as part of a supportive team
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, faults, and completed work

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operation of our car park facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, and fully functional environment for customers and staff. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for routine inspections, identifying faults, and carrying out basic maintenance tasks. Permanent full time

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
