Job summary

BMW Group in Coleshill is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure the facility operates efficiently, applying maintenance principles and providing hands-on electrical fault finding and fault diagnosis support. You will interpret electrical schematics and contribute to quality, safety, and reliability goals.

The role requires NVQ3 or an equivalent electrical qualification and an apprenticeship. Automotive manufacturing experience is preferred; familiarity with SAP data recording is a plus.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in electrical discipline.
  • Minimum technical apprenticeship in Electrical or Electrical & Mechanical.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge; familiarity with high-volume production machinery.
  • Familiarity with machinery and electrical/mechanical systems; SAP data recording preferable.
  • Experience in production maintenance repairs or knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify potential malfunctions to minimize downtime and remedy them.
  • Minimise production impact and manage non-conforming materials.
  • Demonstrate mechanical fault diagnosis and maintenance understanding, including gauges and referencing.
  • Identify and rectify faults in machinery, equipment, and processes reactively.
  • Ensure timely resolution of issues with minimal impact on targets.
  • Record breakdowns and manage warranty processes using Health and Safety systems.

As the Maintenance Technician your main responsibilities will include ensuring the effective technical use of a variety of maintenance principles ensuring the efficiency and technical availability of the facility is continuously maintained. You will also provide hands on technical support to resolve any quality, efficiency and complex problems. You will be responsible for demonstrating competence in fault finding on Electrical systems, interrogate electrical schematics and cable references.

What awaits you?
  • Ensure customer quality and reduced equipment downtime by proactively identifying potential malfunctions before they occur and remedying them.
  • Minimise impact on production demand and manage and reduce all non-conforming materials.
  • Demonstrate mechanical understanding for fault diagnosis, set up and referencing and understanding of gauge systems and their maintenance.
  • Identify and rectify any fault occurrences with machinery, equipment and processes in a reactive manner.
  • Ensure all problem resolution activities are completed in a timely manner with minimal impact ensuring maintenance and facility target achievement.
  • Use Health and Safety systems and equipment to record breakdowns, complete material searching and warranty returns process.
What should you bring along?
  • Qualified to NVQ 3 or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
  • Minimum of Technical apprenticeship in an Electrical or Electrical and Mechanical discipline.
  • Ideally experienced in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Basic Mechanical knowledge and preferable knowledge with high volume production machinery.
  • A familiarity with Machinery, Technical / Electrical / Mechanical systems as well as PSS and SAP data recording is preferable.
  • Previous experience in production maintenance repairs and/or demonstrated knowledge / optimisations of manufacturing processes is essential.
