About the role

We are recruiting for a multi-skilled or electrically biased Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering Team at the Portbury production facility in Bristol. This facility specializes in dried blending and mixing, creating flavor blends for renowned brands, with hundreds of tonnes of product precisely measured, mixed, and packaged weekly.

This is a permanent position with a 3- or 4-shift pattern – AM/PM/Nights/Days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Resolve breakdowns, carry out preventive maintenance (PMs), and work on projects/improvement works to minimize production downtime.
  • Conduct risk assessments with relevant personnel and implement controls to minimize risks.
  • Lock off dangerous machinery immediately or repair and notify accordingly.
  • Proactively undertake PMs on offline machinery when time permits.
  • Complete PM sheets thoroughly, noting observations, jobs, and recommendations, and file with the Maintenance Planner, always seeking improvements.
  • Gather detailed information from production personnel regarding machine faults to expedite troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate engineering logs and computer system entries with all relevant information, including PM numbers, parts used, plant numbers, urgency, etc., at the end of each shift.
  • Communicate professionally with external contacts, reflecting the company's profile.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Successful candidates will demonstrate the right behaviors and competencies, with proven experience in a similar role. Ideally, candidates will have:

  • HNC, City & Guilds, or a time-served apprenticeship with appropriate electrical engineering qualifications.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment or, preferably, in manufacturing broadly.
  • Electrical or multi-skilled capabilities, with PLC experience highly desirable.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience highly desirable.
  • A flexible approach and a positive 'can-do' attitude.
  • Experience with SAP is highly desirable.
