Job summary

Siemens Mobility at Bedford Cauldwell Depot is seeking skilled Maintenance Technicians to join our Rolling Stock team. You will perform preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and essential activities to support the Class 360/1 Desiro trains, with full training provided.

This 12-hour shift role requires residency within 1 hour of Bedford and offers a supportive environment with wellbeing and pension benefits, plus opportunities to develop your skills and career within a global rail

Qualifications

  • Must have relevant experience within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment.
  • HNC or equivalent in a mechanical/electrical discipline.
  • Ability to complete records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment and PPE and Health & Safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan.
  • Carry out download diagnosis and fault finding to an advanced level.
  • Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation.
  • Assist other team members with the development of technical skills.
  • Specialise in areas of technical expertise.

At Bedford Cauldwell Depot, Siemens Mobility is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the Class 360/1 Desiro fleet. The depot plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and operational readiness of these trains for passenger services.

We are currently seeking skilled Maintenance Technicians to join our Rolling Stock team at the Bedford depot. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, conduct fault diagnosis, and carry out essential activities to support the smooth operation of the Class 360/1 Desiro trains. As a Maintenance Technician, you will have electrical and mechanical background and experience of fault diagnosis. Rail experience is not essential as full training will be given.

This is a shift-based role with 12-hour shifts, including a mix of day and night rotations. Due to the nature of the schedule, you must reside within a 1-hour commuting distance from Bedford.

Your success will be grounded by …
  • Must have relevant experience within a mechanical/electrical engineering environment
  • HNC or equivalent in a mechanical/electrical discipline
  • Ability to complete all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
  • Good knowledge and understanding for cares of tools, equipment and PPE as appropriate
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Computer literate, ability to use a laptop for diagnostic fault finding and rectification purposes
  • Ability to understand and interpret relevant technical publications.
  • Some experience in basic fault finding.
