Job summary

Evotec SE is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our Abingdon site. You will join the Engineering and Facilities Maintenance team, reporting to the Maintenance supervisor.

The role is permanent, full-time (40 hours) onsite at Milton Park, Abingdon, with a competitive benefits package. You will perform planned preventive maintenance, service building services and plant, and manage external contractors for specialist work.

Qualifications

• Experience operating building management systems (BMS) and handling energy initiatives.
• Experience or familiarity with ATEX environments is advantageous.
• Self-motivated, reliable and able to grow into supervisory responsibilities.

• Basic computer literacy expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance on building, plant and equipment to support daily operations.
• Maintain site services including AHUs, pumps, boilers, electrical LV systems, lighting and water systems; assist fault finding.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialist work on gas boilers, UPS, LV switchgear, PAT, BMS and other systems.
• Support routine activities like weekly fire alarm testing and daily engineering checks.
• Respond to maintenance/engineering requests and arrange contractor work as needed.
• Occasionally work weekends or on-call (~1 week per month).
• Carry out additional tasks as directed by Engineering Management.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Engineering and Facilities Maintenance team. As our mechanical maintenance technician, you will report directly to the Maintenance supervisor. You will be working with a high-performing and friendly multi-skilled team who are primarily responsible for maintenance and repair of Production, Utilities, Laboratory and Office Assets. This role is based at our site in Abingdon.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance to ensure that the building, plant and equipment continues to support day to day operations.
• Maintain site services; AHU's, extract fans/motors, electrical LV systems, lighting, water systems (process /domestic) inclusive of pumps, laboratory fume cupboards, pipework, calorifiers, boilers, pressurisation units and vacuum systems. Complete investigations, problem solving, and fault finding when breakdowns occur.
• Liaise with, manage, and support external contractors in maintaining; gas boilers, compressed air, UPS, electrical LV switchgear, PAT, BMS, fire alarm, generators, laboratory gas services, general building fabric and facility repairs, AC/chillers, LEV & pressurised equipment.
• As a Team member, support routine activities such as weekly fire alarm testing, and daily checks to verify correct operation of engineering plant.
• Action maintenance/engineering requests, either internally or by use of external contractors for specialist work.
• Occasional weekend/out of hours work and participation in on-call rota (~1 week per month)
• Undertake the duties outlined above and other duties as directed by Engineering Management and from time to day carry out any additional tasks as may be required to support the Company.

Skills & Competencies

• Experience gained in operation of a Building Management System, Energy Initiatives and/or working in ATEX environments would be advantageous.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, co-operative and reliable with the desire and motivation to grow and take on increased responsibility and/or supervisory responsibility.
• Able to learn new techniques, processes and procedures.
• Customer focused, with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Able to work methodically with attention to detail, even when under pressure.
• Basic computer literacy and knowledge is expected.
• Enthusiastic and flexible, positive 'go the extra mile' approach.

Education and Experience

• Working knowledge, ideally gained in a pharmaceutical (GMP) or life-science research organisation undertaking laboratory activities.
• Industry experience post Mechanical Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience (NVQ Level 2/3) gained in a facilities, manufacturing, chemical, utility or laboratory environment is essential.
• H&S Training based on practical experience.
