Role Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for coordinating and leading the maintenance team currently on shift. They will liaise with the production team leader to achieve manufacturing targets, specifically around plant availability and PM completion.

Key Responsibilities

The role entails but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring equipment availability aligns with departmental targets for the shift.
  • Managing team holidays for Maintenance Technicians on shift in line with company policy and procedures, seeking guidance from the Line Manager when required.
  • Ensuring plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to maintain smooth facility operation.
  • Engaging in root cause analysis of repeat or major breakdowns and providing reports with suggested improvements.
  • Implementing continuous improvement methodologies to engineer out previous issues.
  • Facilitating PM schedules and recommending improvements, delegating tasks through the team to ensure KPI compliance.
  • Supporting internal customers with technical issues, including non-breakdown problems.
  • Complying with all corporate practices, procedures, and policies related to Occupational Safety and Health administration rules (OSHA) during maintenance processes.
  • Attending training as required and adhering to CCUK and Magna standards.
  • Applying 5S methodology in work areas and the wider factory.
  • Driving departmental and company goals/objectives.
  • Promoting and exemplifying the Magna Employees Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Divisions' Mission, Vision, Objectives, Goals, and Values.
  • Having experience with disciplinary actions and investigations.
  • Having experience with PDRs, PIPs, and absence management.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and conducting annual appraisals of team members.
  • Supporting management with ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Planning and organizing work shifts for timely maintenance activities.
  • Leading a team and delegating work functions effectively.
  • Promoting the company's HSE policies across the department and plant, adhering to all health and safety environmental requirements.
  • Organizing job training activities for the team.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
  • Previous experience in a maintenance function.
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Willingness to multi-skill.
  • Ability to delegate to skilled workers.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Experience in fault finding from hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to communicate technical issues and conduct shift briefs.
  • Experience with 5S methodology.
  • Qualification in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Educated to HNC/HND in a related discipline.
  • Experience within the castings sector.
  • Health and Safety accreditation.
  • Experience in Tier 1 automotive supply.
  • Previous experience leading a technical team.
