Maintenance Support Lead (Electrical)

Location: Shieldhall, Glasgow

Full-time, Permanent Position

38 Hours Onsite (Mon-Fri)

Purpose of the Role

Within the Engineering team in Asset Care, you will support operational performance safely and collaboratively. Reporting to a Technical Manager at Shieldhall, you will provide maintenance expertise to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, and asset care. You will utilize maintenance systems data, ensure compliance with safety procedures, shape and deliver asset care strategies, support preventative maintenance, and enhance performance targets. You will also manage project safety execution and coordinate external contractors as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Diageo health, safety, environmental, and food safety standards, including Safe Systems of Work.
  • Maintain a safe, organized workplace following Safety and 5S practices, and contribute to manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Ensure all Electrical Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules are completed to standard and on time.
  • Coach operators in autonomous maintenance, machine setup, and equipment capability growth.
  • Manage PUWER, Safe Isolations, Functional Safety, and Electrical Compliance.
  • Support capital projects, including installation, commissioning, and testing, and contribute to early equipment management.
  • Utilize SAP for reporting and recording maintenance activities.
  • Review Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) activities to maintain plant and equipment performance.
  • Participate in problem-solving during shifts, applying root cause analysis and supporting team development in asset care and RCPS techniques.
  • Engage in improvement projects, team meetings, and asset care reviews with a solutions-focused approach.
Candidate Requirements
  • Recognized apprenticeship and/or Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Lead in FMCG/Manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Ability to connect asset care strategies with site output and compliance improvements.
  • Strong numerical, verbal reasoning, and computer skills.
  • Understanding of asset performance, maintenance philosophy, and process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
  • Charismatic enough to challenge poor behaviors and non-compliance.
  • Advocate for Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Flexible and positive response to change.
  • Knowledge of risk standards, safety, and hygiene procedures.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Harford systems, or similar.
