OVERVIEW

Work with the Packaging Maintenance Team Manager to optimise plant performance and maintenance activities by managing a team of Maintenance Technicians and contract staff within the Packing area of the factory.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with all SHEQ policies and procedures by the team and contractors.
  • Manage the Maintenance Technicians team, ensuring safety, quality, and throughput standards are met.
  • Coordinate with Packaging Team Managers and senior engineers to prioritize activities for plant operations and maintenance.
  • Plan, schedule, and agree on daily/weekly workloads with the Packaging Maintenance Team Manager, including preventative, planned, and reactive activities.
  • Oversee all planned and reactive electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance activities, optimizing resources and contractors for high-quality repairs.
  • Maintain regular communication with teams through meetings and briefings.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement (CI) and projects to enhance plant reliability.
  • Provide cost estimates and generate capital requests for improvement projects, managing costs within authorized budgets.
  • Participate in RCM and RCA studies to optimize maintenance regimes.
  • Manage SAP maintenance system for budgeting, trend analysis, and reliability data.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures, standards, risk assessments, method statements, and SHEQ systems.

ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in maintenance within automated continuous process environments.
  • Multi-skilled across various engineering trades.
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Experience leading and managing small teams.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferably an HNC/NVQ 4 in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate activities effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a desire for continuous personal development.
