We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineering Supervisor to join a busy heavy manufacturing operation on an initial 3-month interim contract.
This is a hands-on, on-the-tools supervisory position. You will lead the maintenance team while remaining actively involved in fault finding, repairs, preventative maintenance and day-to-day engineering activities across the site.
Working within a demanding heavy manufacturing environment, you will supervise the maintenance team and play a key role in keeping plant and machinery operating safely and efficiently.
You will be expected to be comfortable getting hands-on with the tools and leading by example.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervising and supporting a team of maintenance engineers/technicians.
Carrying out hands-on electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
Diagnosing and rectifying equipment faults and breakdowns.
Coordinating planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
Prioritising engineering work to minimise production downtime.
Working closely with Production to maintain plant availability.
Providing technical support and guidance to the maintenance team.
Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard.
Supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
Managing day-to-day engineering priorities and allocating work across the team.
Ensuring relevant maintenance records and systems are maintained.
We are looking for a genuinely experienced maintenance engineer who has progressed into a supervisory/team leadership position.
You will ideally have:
A recognised Level 3 apprenticeship or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related maintenance discipline.
Significant experience working in a heavy manufacturing, industrial or similarly demanding engineering environment.
Proven maintenance engineering experience across either electrical or mechanical disciplines.
Previous experience supervising, leading or coordinating a maintenance team.
Strong fault-finding and breakdown response experience.
A practical, hands-on "on the tools" approach.
The ability to work effectively under pressure in a production environment.
A strong understanding of engineering Health &; Safety requirements.
Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
