Qualifications

EQUANS are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor for our Calderdale Royal Hospital contract in Halifax. This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours per week). Competitive salary and benefits are offered.

General Overview

Supervise a multidisciplinary estates maintenance team and service partners delivering day‑to‑day operations. Collaborate with senior team to deliver a client‑driven, cost‑effective and efficient Facilities Management Service at Calderdale Royal Hospital.

Deliver a safe, happy and compliant hospital environment to provide the best possible patient experience. As a Fabric or Construction specialist, support the estates team and work with senior site bases.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise Maintenance Staff: Lead and manage a team of technicians, ensuring tasks are completed to required standards and timelines.
  • Plant Inspections and Repairs: Oversee the routine inspection, servicing, and repair of plant to minimise downtime.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, hospital policies and PFI contract requirements.
  • Contractual Deliverables: Ensure maintenance works are conducted according to PFI contract terms, including response times and performance standards.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Work with the EQUANS site team to provide accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections and repairs for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Coordination with Hospital Staff: Liaise with hospital management and clinical teams to prioritise maintenance work and minimise disruption.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Oversee use of materials, tools and equipment, ensuring cost‑effectiveness while maintaining quality service.
Complexity

Maintain the integrity and operation of the hospital's fabric and building structures to ensure a safe, functional and compliant environment for clinical and non‑clinical services. Provide technical support and guidance to direct reports, ensuring routine fabric maintenance, minor works and statutory compliance tasks are completed to a high standard.

Qualifications or Required Experience
  • Fabric or Construction background trained to at least NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline.
  • Authorised Person position previously held or willing to take on roles.
  • Previously held a supervisory or team leader role.
  • Background in healthcare or PFI is advantageous.
