Job description

Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Maintenance Superintendent. At Arkema, the Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the leadership and coordination of activities necessary to improve site operation and reliability as it relates to maintenance activities. TheMaintenance Superintendent reports to theMaintenance Manager and supervises the Beaumont maintenance workforce of Mechanics, and I/E Technicians.

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

-Directs and effectively balances manpower to execute the maintenance schedule throughout the plant, working with Maintenance Planners, OMSs, Scheduler and Supervisors to balance the weekly and long-term manpower requirements
-Maintains time keeping for maintenance employees.
-Uses maintenance metrics to improve the plants reliability.
-Enters purchase requisition for materials not normally stocked into SAP system.
-Shared responsibility with purchasing for (1) selection of contractors (2) awarding of contracts and (3) assuring that all contractors work is (A) performed in compliance with applicable codes, standards and procedures and (B) completed in a timely manner and within budget.
-Coordinate contractor maintenance activities with production and maintenance to ensure as little disruption as possible.
-Support TAR execution needs, coordinating work scope as needed.
-Reviews and approves in house Contractor’s time card sheet.
-Audit work areas to ensure Craftsmen are maintaining good housekeeping and a safe work area, ensuring work scope is executed in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
-Directs maintenance activities to ensure safe, environmentally sound, and efficient repairs by knowledge of equipment and all appropriate policies and procedures.
-Organizes and plans work activities to maintain equipment in an efficient, timely, and orderly fashion by use of work order system.
-Coordinates and schedules all maintenance work to meet production requirements.
-Conducts permit audits to ensure proper use of permits by personnel.
-Schedule contractor work in the plant, ensure contractors’ workmanship, approve contractor time, verify accuracy of invoices, and provide necessary logistical support.
-Responsible for the leadership, coordination, and development of planners and warehouse personnel.
-Serves as backfill for Maintenance Manager.
-Recruit, select, and train supervisors and administrative staff.
-Foster a well-trained and motivated staff through excellent leadership and communication skills.
-Conduct employee performance reviews.


To be considered for this role, the following is required:

-B.S. in Engineering and 7+ years progressive Maintenance experience OR 10+ years of progressive Maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
-3+ leading and managing people
-Great organizational skills required as well as proficiency with SAP, MS products, Email, Internet, etc.
-Excellent computer skills including proficiency with SAP, Microsoft products, email, internet, etc.
-Excellent problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills, both oral and written.
-Ability to have flexibility with changing priorities on a daily basis.
-Extremely independent, detail oriented, and highly organized.
-Established track record in implementing successful personnel management improvements.
-Support 24/7 fast-paced manufacturing environment (position is a dayshift).
-Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and administrative skills.
