Job description

Applications are invited for a Maintenance Shift Fitter to work at our SARIA, Doncaster site. This is a full-time position, working an average of 42 hours per week (12-hour shifts, including days and nights).

As a Maintenance Fitter, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Day-to-day maintenance of all plant and machinery.
  2. Conducting risk assessments on all jobs before undertaking any work/tasks.
  3. Installing and maintaining new and existing equipment, ensuring production is not interrupted.
  4. Carrying out hands-on mechanical engineering routines in accordance with planned preventative maintenance systems (PPM) to minimize plant downtime and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  5. Filling in all logs and job sheets as required.
  6. Keeping the working area clean and tidy after completing jobs/tasks.
  7. Being responsible for health and safety of yourself and others, complying with all safety procedures.
  8. Assisting other mechanical/operational departments when required.

The Person

  1. Having a time-served apprenticeship, recognised Mechanical Engineering certification/qualification, or equivalent.
  2. Possessing fabrication skills.
  3. Refrigeration experience is advantageous.
  4. Having previous engineering experience within a process/factory environment.
  5. Ability to work on own initiative.
  6. Taking a proactive approach to problem-solving and providing appropriate solutions to reduce disruption.
  7. Maintaining a calm and methodical approach, able to work under pressure within time constraints.
