Reliability Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing
GKN Aerospace is seeking a Reliability Engineer to develop and implement reliability strategies for critical assets, including autoclaves, CNC machines, and composite layup and curing systems. The role involves leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to eliminate recurring issues, monitoring and improving OEE and OPE metrics through data analysis, and supporting condition-based monitoring programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement reliability strategies for critical assets.
- Lead RCA and FMEA to address recurring issues.
- Monitor and improve OEE and OPE metrics.
- Support condition-based monitoring programs.
- Champion TPM initiatives, including autonomous maintenance and planned maintenance.
- Collaborate with planners to optimize maintenance schedules.
- Drive equipment uptime and reliability through structured TPM deployment.
- Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement events and Lean Six Sigma projects.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, NADCAP) and maintain accurate records using CMMS systems like SAP or Concept.
- Provide reliability input into capital projects and support commissioning of new assets.
- Support validation of new assets with a focus on long-term reliability.
Qualifications & Skills
- HND/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in reliability or maintenance engineering within aerospace or advanced manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of composite manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and performance metrics (OEE, OPE).
- Reliability engineering certification (e.g., CMRP) is desirable.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
