The Role
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join the Engineering team at UCP’s UF6 deconversion facility in Capenhurst.

You will be responsible for planning maintenance activities across the plant, from routine maintenance and breakdowns through to major shutdowns and turnarounds. A key part of the role will be producing clear, practical Written Schemes of Maintenance, ensuring work can be carried out safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

This is a hands‑on planning role involving regular interaction with Engineering, Operations, SHE, contractors, suppliers and external engineering organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit site to establish maintenance scope, resources, materials, timescales and work methods.
  • Produce risk assessments, method statements, job plans and Written Schemes of Maintenance.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks contain clear instructions, drawings, manuals, tooling and resource requirements.
  • Review completed work and update maintenance plans based on findings and lessons learned.
  • Plan and prioritise routine, urgent and emergent maintenance work using SAP/CMMS.
  • Ensure work is fully planned ahead of scheduled maintenance dates.
  • Identify and source required materials, specialist equipment, scaffolding, cranes and tooling.
  • Work with suppliers and OEMs to confirm technical requirements and specifications.
  • Raise purchase requisitions where required.
  • Maintain accurate SAP asset data, equipment records, functional locations and Bills of Materials.
  • Support planning and delivery of major plant shutdowns and turnarounds, including contractor resources, materials and emergent work.
  • Provide progress updates during shutdown activities and help resolve issues affecting delivery.
  • Support colleagues in the effective use of SAP and maintenance work management processes.
  • Work closely with discipline engineers, project managers, Operations, SHE, Procurement and external contractors.

About You
You will ideally have:

  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship with HNC, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Time-served mechanical or CE&I experience within a chemical, process or similar industrial environment.
  • Practical knowledge of maintaining process equipment such as pumps, valves, vessels, pipework and instrumentation/control systems.
  • Experience planning maintenance using a CMMS/EAM system, preferably SAP.
  • Experience producing job plans, work instructions, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Experience scheduling maintenance or projects using Gantt charts or planning software.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance/planning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, organised and self‑motivated approach.
  • Knowledge of contamination control, security requirements and continuous improvement would be advantageous.

What Youll Bring
This role requires someone who can translate technical requirements into clear, practical maintenance plans. You will need to be comfortable working with different teams, challenging information where necessary and making sure maintenance activities are properly scoped, resourced and ready to execute.
Experience working in a highly regulated process or nuclear environment would be beneficial.
