About Elmley Nature Reserve:

Elmley National Nature Reserve is a family-run rural estate with an internationally renowned nature reserve, award-winning accommodation and events business and wildlife-friendly farm on an island off the coast of North Kent. Elmley is located in North Kent it is 30mins from Faversham, Maidstone and the Medway Towns, 45mins from Canterbury, and 1 hour from South London.

The role:

This is a special opportunity to work with a friendly and passionate team in an incredible setting where sustainability and luxury are equally important.

It is a busy and hands-on position maintaining our onsite accommodation and spaces, ensuring our high standards are kept across site in a range of accommodation, communal event spaces and gardens around Kingshill Farm.

The role entails:

• Performing repairs as and when necessary across onsite accommodation, grounds and venue spaces
• Performing regular preventative maintenance and associated paperwork
• Checking and changing fuel supplies e.g. gas bottles and tanks-Elmley is an off-grid location
• Conducting routine inspections across the site as well as equipment
• Working with the Back of House Operations Manager with project based work, ordering supplies and making the best use of stock/parts
• Assisting with moving equipment and furniture for the weddings and events that are held on-site.

Who we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who has:

• Proven range of maintenance skills and experience with a proactive approach
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
• The ability to manage your time efficiently, reporting to the Back of House Operations Manager, as well as working amongst a team
• The ability to lift and transport heavy loads and work in all weathers
• A friendly and welcoming approach

Position details:

• Full time hours available throughout the week, weekend work will be required in rotation
• Part time hours will be considered for the role
• Due to the nature of the role longer days will be required on rotation, particularly in the summer months.
  
  

Kingshill Farm, Elmley Nature Reserve, Sheerness, Kent ME12 3RW will be the place of work. Note if researching location using online maps, please note that some apps will add 30 minutes to the journey time to account for a footpath, so please use ME12 3RN instead.

Due to the rural location own transport is required.
