Job summary

Aurem Care is seeking aMaintenance person to keep the premises and grounds in top condition, ensuring residents have a safe, comfortable environment.

You will carry out repairs, inspect electrical and safety systems, perform ground maintenance, and support care staff while prioritising resident privacy and safety. Part-time hours, with training provided and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

  • Must have maintenance experience (electrical/plumbing/joinery).
  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations.
  • Experience in a care environment is advantageous.
  • Must have a Driving licence and own transport.
  • IT literate with good MS Office skills.
  • Good communication skills and team player attitude.
  • Willingness to receive training on Health & Safety/Fire issues.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out repairs or contact engineers as needed.
  • Perform basic visual electrical checks and report faults.
  • Ensure daily/weekly/monthly fire checks are completed.
  • Pre-weekend checks on lights, electricals, heating.
  • Submit monthly meter readings for gas/electricity/water.
  • Undertake general redecoration and ground maintenance.
  • Respect residents' privacy and coordinate with nursing staff.
  • Assist in KPI data collection as directed.
  • Carry out ad hoc duties to support service delivery.

What does the job role involve?

The maintenance person will ensure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard and provide the residents with a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment in which to live.

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Carry out repairs as required or contact engineers/service agent where applicable.
  • Undertake basic visual electrical checks on all equipment, i.e. ensuring that all plugs and cables equipment are checked for signs of damage, labelling is legible and correct. Any faults are reported to the Home Manager and Electrical Contractor.
  • Ensure that daily/weekly/monthly fire checks are completed which includes the fire alarm system, fire extinguisher, fire doors and sprinkler system recording findings.
  • Pre-weekend check; lights, electrical, heating, prior to the weekend or Bank holidays.
  • To ensure monthly meter readings of gas, electricity and water are submitted to the Administrator/Manager on specified dates.
  • Undertake general redecoration works as instructed by the Home Manager.
  • Undertake ground maintenance, keeping the grass cut, shrubs, bushes and hedges pruned and the site generally weed free.
  • To be aware of maintaining resident’s privacy and to communicate with nursing staff should works be required which will affect resident care.
  • Where necessary and under the direction of the Home Manager, participate in the collation of key performance indicator data and evidence.
  • Any ad hoc duties to meet service delivery for our home.
What makes a successful candidate:
  • Must have maintenance experience e.g. minor electrical, plumbing, joinery
  • Knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations
  • Previously worked in a care environment, would be a advantage
  • Must have a Driving licence and own transportation
  • IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfortable using PC or laptop
  • Good communication skills
  • Confident team player
  • Willingness to receive training on current Health & Safety/Fire/EHO issues
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Be able to follow and prioritise tasks and responsibilities

  • Tuesday & Thursday's, 8am - 4:30pm
  • Pay: £16.11 per hour
  • Able to work some weekend’s
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata for part time)
