Job summary

• Complete routine filter changes on HVAC, water, and air handling systems.
• Assist with the safe movement, disposal, and management of waste, materials, and debris in line with site procedures.
• Provide general labour support across maintenance projects and site improvement initiatives.

Maintenance General Labour Technician

Location: Grove, Wantage
Salary: £30,000-35,000 per annum
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract with the potential to become permanent

We are seeking a hands-on and reliable Maintenance General Labour Technician to join our Facilities team in Grove, Wantage. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience who enjoys a varied role and is looking to develop their skills within a supportive and growing environment.

Working closely with experienced Maintenance Technicians, you will play a key role in ensuring our buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. The position offers exposure to a wide range of maintenance activities, with opportunities to develop skills in areas such as carpentry and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance Support

• Assist Maintenance Technicians with day-to-day maintenance and repair activities.
• Support painting and decorating projects, including surface preparation, masking, priming, and finishing.
• Move, assemble, and dismantle furniture and equipment to support office relocations and workspace reconfigurations.
• Complete routine filter changes on HVAC, water, and air handling systems.
• Assist with the safe movement, disposal, and management of waste, materials, and debris in line with site procedures.
• Provide general labour support across maintenance projects and site improvement initiatives.

Building Maintenance

• Carry out basic repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Identify and report maintenance issues including leaks, damaged fixtures, flooring defects, and other building-related concerns.
• Assist with seasonal maintenance activities such as gutter clearing and site upkeep.

Carpentry Duties (Experience Beneficial)

• Perform basic carpentry repairs and installations, including shelving, doors, frames, and other wooden structures.

Plumbing Duties (Experience Beneficial)

• Assist with minor plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing washers, and clearing blocked drains.
• Monitor site facilities and report any plumbing issues requiring further attention.

• Previous experience within facilities, maintenance, building services, construction, or a similar environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to health and safety.
• Basic carpentry, plumbing, or general maintenance experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider facilities team.
