Maintenance Operative - Birmingham

Salary: £28,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm

We deliver style, luxury, and comfort, surrounded by premium amenities and vibrant city life. Our Maintenance Operatives play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of building facilities. This customer-facing role requires maintaining Vita Student’s high standards of building management.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly, addressing issues related to plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire alarm and firefighting systems.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair plant room systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance (PPM) of residence facilities.
  • Carry out general repairs, including fixing plumbing, fixtures, appliances, doors, and walls.
  • Perform basic carpentry and painting tasks, including flooring repairs, furniture repairs, and touch-ups.
  • Manage maintenance supplies and parts inventory.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures during maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain outdoor areas such as grass-cutting and hedge trimming.
  • Coordinate with other departments like housekeeping and management regarding maintenance needs.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance.
  • Familiarity with plant room operations.
  • Skills across plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, and general equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Knowledge of safety compliance regulations.
  • Experience in stock management is advantageous.
  • Experience in outdoor ground maintenance.
  • IT literacy.
