Job summary

Avon Court Care Home in Chippenham, Wiltshire, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer. The role supports a 56-bed nursing and residential care setting, ensuring safety, operation and a welcoming environment. Contracted to 37.5 hours per week, with DBS, pension and uniform provided.

The post reports to the Home Manager and involves planning, coordinating contractors and routine upkeep. You will work across the building and grounds, carrying out repairs, inspections and installations to keep

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.
• Support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination with the Home Manager and wider team.
• Maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work complies with health and safety standards.
