Overview

Maintenance Technician - Plumber 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Plumbing Technician to join our Estates and Facilities team. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our campus facilities by undertaking statutory and planned maintenance tasks, as well as reactive repairs and minor works. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with a can-do attitude.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform statutory plumbing maintenance tasks, including inspections and testing to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance and minor works on plumbing systems, including pipework, sanitaryware, and drainage.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in plumbing installations across campus facilities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency callouts and resolve issues efficiently to minimise disruption.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams and contractors to support broader facilities projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Uphold high standards of health and safety, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Proven experience in plumbing maintenance, ideally within a commercial or live public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements for plumbing systems (e.g., Legionella testing, water regulations).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or other facilities management software.
  • Additional qualifications in related trades (e.g., gas safety, heating systems).

A full UK driving licence and the ability to participate in an out of hours call out rota are essential.
