Job summary

Social Interest Group (SIG) is seeking a Maintenance Operative in London to support the Maintenance and Estates team. You will perform repairs and inspections, manage stock, and coordinate external contractors to keep properties safe and well-maintained for residents and staff.

The role requires hands-on skills in carpentry and plumbing, strong organisational ability, and a proactive approach to safety and compliance. Full-time position with benefits and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Multi-trade skills in carpentry and plumbing.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Organised, able to manage inventories and digital records.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance, and inspections to maintain properties to SIG’s standard.
• Manage inventories—monitor stock and order supplies as needed.
• Coordinate external contractors (electricians, roofers) to deliver high-standard work.
• Promote best practices in health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Address HSE concerns proactively and report incidents or risks appropriately.
• Contribute to regular risk reviews and mitigation strategies.
