Job summary

The Esland Group Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join a multi-skilled team responsible for property maintenance and repairs across our care homes and related sites. You will perform carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, basic electrics, and gardening in a field-based capacity with travel across our Bedford area locations.

You will be part of an Estates & Maintenance team reporting to the Estates Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plastering, decorating).
• Proficient in basic plumbing and electrical works.
• Excellent communication and teamwork to liaise with all levels of the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and complete general maintenance and repair in our properties.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks; work with the wider team.
• Adhere to health & safety regulations and report issues to management.
• Willing to work one Saturday every 6 weeks.

Compensation: £31,500 / year

Description

Are you a competent and multiskilled Maintenance professional looking for a new challenge?

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to be part of a multi-skilled team, providing property maintenance and repair to our care homes plus other areas of the business. You will work as a part of an integral team, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance and repair procedures such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, basic electrics and gardening skills.

We are looking for someone who is happy and confident to carry out a range of works, maintenance and property upkeep across the Bedford area.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordination and completion of all aspects of general maintenance and repair in our homes.
• Completion of any other maintenance tasks as and when required, working with the wider maintenance team across our homes.
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and reporting any issues to management.
• The successful candidate must be willing to work one Saturday every 6 weeks.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

You will have experience in all aspects of general maintenance and the ability to carry out this work to a high standard.

• You will have experience in all aspects of plastering, carpentry and decorating, in order to provide an efficient and comprehensive maintenance service to our homes.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing and electrics.
• Excellent communication skills, to liaise effectively with all levels of the organisation.
• You will be experienced in the safe use of powered hand and bench tools.
• You can work both independently and as part of the wider team.
• Confident in using IT systems - Currently we use Jira to manage and update jobs.
• A full driving license is essential, along with flexibility to travel across our homes.
