Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Location: Jarrow, Tyne and Wear

Pay rate: £12.78 per hour

Full Time: Monday to Friday, day shift

Job type: Permanent / On-site

About you:
  • Arrive early to start your shift on time.
  • Follow time recording procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner.

Responsibilities of the role:
  • Inspect premises daily for health and safety hazards, record findings, and address issues promptly.
  • Maintain an electronic log of maintenance actions.
  • Verify all tasks with the Manager unless emergencies arise.
  • Ensure all lighting, including bulbs, is functioning properly.
  • Maintain gardens and keep yards tidy, clear debris, and keep fire exits accessible and safe.
  • Check hot water and heating systems regularly.
  • Perform routine painting and touch-up jobs.
  • Inspect drains and gutters weekly.
  • Maintain and test fire safety equipment, lifts, boilers, and other electrical or mechanical systems, arranging qualified contractors for complex tasks.
  • Conduct weekly fire drills and record findings.
  • Keep records updated and report hazards to management for risk assessments.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Note: A DBS check will be required as part of safeguarding measures.
