Job summary

Bluebell View in Oswestry, part of Care Concern Group, is seeking a Maintenance Operative to keep the home safe, well maintained and fully operational. You will perform repairs, inspections and installations, ensuring systems run safely and efficiently, with proactive problem-solving and a hands-on approach.

You will work with the Home Manager and team to support planning, compliance and contractor coordination, maintaining a clean, compliant and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience in maintenance, facilities or similar role.
• Good knowledge of repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance tasks across building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are safe and functioning; identify issues and take action.
• Support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination with the Home Manager.

About Bluebell View

Bluebell View is an 80 bed care home in Oswestry, Shropshire, providing residential, nursing and residential dementia care. Our dedicated team works together to deliver high quality, person centred care, supporting residents to live with dignity, independence and comfort in a welcoming environment.

Maintenance Operative Contract

• £15.40 - £15.75 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the home remains safe, well maintained and fully operational at all times. This is a hands on role with responsibility, where your practical skills and proactive approach will directly support the safety, comfort and overall environment.

You will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep. You will ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.

Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you will support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination where required. You will help maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards.

• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Understanding of health and safety procedures
• A proactive and practical approach
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve
