About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a full-time decorator/builder to work with a team of 6 staff responsible for the general condition and upkeep of all the school’s infrastructure, including buildings on the main site, grounds, and other associated sites. The maintenance team manages the upkeep of the school’s infrastructure across King’s College School and Wimbledon College Prep School.

Working Hours

The role involves 40 hours per week, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch. Some Saturday mornings may be required for Open Days and school events, paid as overtime.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Respond to day-to-day maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager via the school’s maintenance ‘ticket’ system.
  2. Undertake pre-planned maintenance and repairs.
  3. Prepare and plaster damaged walls and surfaces.
  4. Perform painting and decorating as required.
  5. Repair paved areas and walkways.
  6. Carry out minor brickwork repairs.
  7. Lay tiles on walls and floors.
  8. Assist other trades within the department.
  9. Maintain the interior of buildings, including doors, windows, and frames, and perform minor repairs such as hanging pictures or shelves.
  10. Maintain the exterior of buildings, including drains and gutters.
  11. Keep the workshop safe and tidy.
  12. Perform plumbing repairs as needed.
  13. Assist external contractors with appropriate tasks.
  14. Support fire emergency procedures as per school policies.
  15. Carry out emergency repairs out of hours and participate in the ‘on call’ duty rota.
