Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a Maintenance Operative for Silvermere Care Home in Cobham. You will perform general maintenance and basic repairs to keep facilities fully functional, inside and outside the home.

We value care, compassion and reliability. The role includes on-call duties, DBS check, and ensuring rooms and common areas are well maintained. DBS disclosure will be funded by Avery Healthcare.

Qualifications

• 1 year minimum general maintenance or handy person experience.
• Full driving licence is required.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling, Fire Safety and COSHH.
• Ability to be adaptable and cover a range of tasks at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs including electrical, plumbing, joinery and building work inside and outside the Home.
• Assist residents with room setup and decoration to maintain standards.
• Advise on supplies and ensure timely ordering of replacement goods.
• Provide out-of-hours emergency service and participate in the on-call rota.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as a Maintenance Operative willbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
• Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
• Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
• Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
• Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

• Have a minimum of one years’ experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
• Hold a full driving licence.

• Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
