Job summary

Gold Care Homes is seeking a dedicated maintenance operative for Sycamore Court in Brighton. You will maintain the building and grounds, perform routine system checks, and assist with safety, security and daily operations to support residents and staff.

Daily responsibilities include monitoring alarms, managing supplies, and helping with staff inductions. The role offers long-term service awards, professional development, and opportunities for progression within the home.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance or care-home environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to manage supplies and minor repairs with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the building and equipment.
• Carry out routine checks on systems and ensure external checks are completed when due.
• Monitor and respond to the fire alarm, boilers and lift.
• Control and order stock and manage deliveries.
• Support induction and training for new staff on site.
• Maintain health, safety and confidentiality across the home.

About our Home:

Based in the Bear Road area of Brighton, just a short drive from Brighton town centre, our home is also easily accessible to the nearby towns of Eastbourne and Worthing making it an ideal choice for those requiring care services in the county of East Sussex.

Sycamore Court provides support for people living with a range of differing health needs, including residential, nursing and dementia care and offers care on a long-term, or short-term and respite basis.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the building and equipment
• Carry out routine checks weekly, monthly, and annually on systems in the home and ensuring that external checks are carried out within the agreed timeframe – e.g Loler testing
• Monitor and respond to the fire alarm call, boilers and lift.
• Make effective and efficient use of resources in any maintenance or repair.
• To conduct Banking and purchase of small items for the home.
• Maintain the building, grounds and equipment to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors to the House including decoration and repair, minor plumbing works and maintaining the garden areas.
• Maintain good communication and relationships with other teams and colleagues at the House.
• Maintain awareness of the Home's policies and procedures especially the Fire Policy.
• Participate in Training and Development as an individual and as part of the team.
• Get involved in the induction of new staff by training them on the building layout and fire policies and procedures.
• Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times.
• Control and ordering of stock and acceptance and checking of deliveries.
• Maintain an awareness of the Health and Safety requirements.
• Observe and maintain high levels of communication within the teams of staff, individual colleagues and residents.
• Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times.
• To carry out any additional duties as requested.
• To undertake any additional training and development programmes the Home may consider appropriate to enhance your contribution to the work at this home.
