Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join a small maintenance team at a new Oil Terminal in Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute. You will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults and support safety-critical operations in an outdoor environment.

The role offers a safety-focused workplace with 30 days holiday, a 15% pension, overtime on request, and dedicated training to fill skills gaps.

Qualifications

• A recognised Mechanical Craft Apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 2/3 options).
• Strong knowledge of rotating and static plant (tanks, pumps, valves, pipework, oil separators, compressors, actuators).
• Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, isometrics and general arrangements.
• Good understanding of safe systems of work, RAMS and permit to work.
• Solid grounding in health and safety with a good safety record.
• Medically fit to use Breathing Apparatus.
• A full driving licence (preferably clean).
• Computer literate, with ability to complete paperwork accurately and update records.
• Team player with high standards of honesty and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and defect rectification efficiently.
• Report site defects promptly so they can be rectified.
• Complete weekly and monthly PPM paperwork on time.
• Prepare work areas for more complex maintenance of systems and components.
• Use diagnostic techniques to identify faults in systems and components.
• Review work and producing RAMS, working within safe systems of work and permit to work.
• Join a rostered on-call team and covering short-notice overtime when needed.
• Occasional work in confined spaces, plus travel to other sites or for training.
