Maintenance Mechanic

Fully qualified candidates from $35.41-$39.34 with opportunity to progress

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support manufacturing operations at our plant in Marietta, PA. The plant manufactures mineral fiber ceiling tiles in a 24/7 fast-paced environment. This position will be responsible for ensuring that the plant meets its key performance metrics and goals for safety, quality, throughput, delivery, and cost. Must be able to work shifts including nights and weekends.

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic processes and systems. You will work with operators, mechanics, electricians, and engineers to solve manufacturing problems.

Specific job duties include:
  1. Assemble, install, dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment as necessary.
  2. Diagnose and correct mechanical malfunctions to maintain equipment in a state of operating effectiveness and meet production requirements.
  3. Work on mechanical equipment such as powered conveyors, paint booths, gas-fired dryers, robotic palletizers, dust collectors, pump systems, etc.
  4. Execute predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance as scheduled.
  5. Use a variety of hand and portable power tools, along with shop equipment such as drill press, hacksaw, grinder, lathe, etc.
  6. Requisition and procure required materials from the storeroom.
  7. Work from prints, sketches, and other written or verbal instructions.
  8. Maintain personal work tools.
  9. Perform other related miscellaneous duties as required.

The position is expected to cover shift work vacancies as necessary, which may include nights and weekends.

Requirements:
  1. At least 3 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/plant environment.
  2. Ability to operate mobile equipment.
  3. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  4. Ability to perform precision tasks including alignments using lasers, dial indicators, etc.
  5. Willingness to be trained on basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
  6. Knowledge of repair and installation of mechanical equipment.
  7. Knowledge of predictive maintenance practices (vibration, ultrasound, etc.) is desired.
Preferred requirements:
  1. Journeyman certification as an Industrial Mechanic or Millwright.
  2. More than five years of plant mechanical maintenance experience.
