Job description

Job Summary

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Decisions may be made on how to perform assigned work orders most efficiently and effectively.

Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To successfully perform the requirements of this position, the incumbent must possess a minimum of two years' previous plant equipment, electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, HVAC, and general maintenance experience. Maintenance experience in process manufacturing of food products is preferred. The ability to work independently, strong communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills are required. Incumbent must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed. Knowledge of preventive maintenance and spare parts systems would be helpful.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow all site safety and environmental policies, including completing safe work permits, following life-saving principles, and adhering to PPE requirements.
  • Ensure operation of plant and facility mechanical equipment by performing scheduled and unscheduled repairs, rebuilds, inspections, and routines, with proper record-keeping of safety checks.
  • Support other departments by troubleshooting equipment failures in a timely manner to support production operations.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for cost-effective and efficient operations.
  • Conduct plant rounds, water readings, wastewater sampling, boiler and refrigeration checks, and water treatment analysis as needed.
  • Maintain the safety and proper condition of company equipment, including tools and supplies.
  • Update equipment history files and note changes or modifications on maintenance blueprints, wiring diagrams, control schematics, or P&ID drawings. Maintain accurate spare parts logs.
  • Perform basic three-phase wiring repairs, including motor replacements.
  • Keep work areas clean and assist in shop cleanliness.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Comply with all company policies, including maintaining a drug-free workplace.
  • Perform other functions as required.
  • Adhere to all Management Systems standards: ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and Food Safety, understanding IFF's Quality/Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Properly dispose of used oil wastes into hazardous waste drums, label drums appropriately, and inform the supervisor when drums are full for disposal.
